This is the start of a good series. The book starts about a young girl, named Thalia. She doesn't remember anything except the vile prison she was rescued from. All her memories are gone due to experiments done to her. The only thing she remembers is being held in a contraption meant to inflict pain, led by a man called the Raven. But, why? Once she escapes her world is opened up in a way she never expected, and she finds she must put her trust in others. She meets a race of people who call themselves Denai; capable of wielding magic, and sadly are on the brink of extinction. They are protected in a kingdom ruled by a queen, whose job is to keep them safe from the Septori. Thalia starts as a servant but then is schooled as a student. She must blend in with the Denai when she starts to form abilities that put her in danger, especially when she is attacked by the people that she escaped from.
